See my posts on this topic: Mocking Trig Palin: The Painful Truth. Also see This Is My Body and a brief note on the continued attacks: Mocking Trig Palin Continues
UPDATE: Still more mocking, of the whole family........and also another of Trig from June 26 as reported by Legal Insurrection.
As a mother of four and someone who lives with a mental illness, it honestly confuses me that there are people who lash out in this way. As I considered this confusion, I remembered something that I have learned since becoming a Catholic Christian. Those who bear the greatest evil in their hearts (e.g., those who hate children) are people who are horribly confused because they don't know and embrace the truth.
In The Splendor of the Truth (Veritatis Splendor), Pope John Paul II wrote:
The splendour of truth shines forth in all the works of the Creator and, in a special way, in man, created in the image and likeness of God (cf. Gen 1:26). Truth enlightens man's intelligence and shapes his freedom, leading him to know and love the Lord. Hence the Psalmist prays: "Let the light of your face shine on us, O Lord" (Ps 4:6).The splendor of truth shines forth in Trig Palin as it does in all works of the Creator. Maybe you don't think Trig Palin looks like your idea of the image and likeness of God, but given the attacks on him, I would say that he comes closer than most of us do. Below is the image and likeness of God.

Prayer for our enemies:
Jesus, Prince of Peace,
you have asked us to love our enemies
and pray for those who persecute us.
We pray for our enemies and those who oppose us.
With the help of the Holy Spirit,
may all people learn to work together
for that justice which brings true and lasting peace.
To you be glory and honor for ever and ever.
Amen.
